Martha Ellen Monday, 90, of Bartlesville and formerly of Wann, Oklahoma, passed away The Journey Home Hospice House, Saturday night, November 19, 2022.
Martha was born February 17, 1932, at Glenoak, Oklahoma to Jim Marler and Barbara (Evans) Marler. She had been a resident of Wann for over 50 years, before relocating to Ignite Medical Resort. Martha married Evert Lee Monday on December 5, 1949, at Bartlesville. Evert preceded his wife in death in 1967. During the course of her life, along with being a housewife, Martha had worked for the food service division of Sapulpa, Oklahoma schools and El Dorado, Kansas school district. She ran a daycare facility in Wann for many years, as well as working for the U.S. Post Office, there.
Martha loved children and helped with the nursery & preschoolers at Wann Baptist Church, where she was the last surviving charter member. She enjoyed arts & crafts, creating meaningful treasures from life’s most simple trinkets.
Martha is survived by two sons, Jimmy Lee Monday of Sherman, Texas and Ernest Anthony “Tony” Monday and his wife, Becky of Tecumseh, Oklahoma; one brother, Charles Henry Marler and his wife, Shirley of Coffeyville, Kansas; 16 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by both parents; her husband of 18 years, Evert Lee; two sons, William Eugene Monday and Glen Dale Monday; by sisters Jacqueline Joyce Patteson and Agnes Lucille Stuart; and by two granddaughters, Michelle L. and Billie Jean Monday.
Funeral service for Martha will be 2pm, Friday, November 25, 2022, at Wann Baptist Church with Pastor Chuck Kerns officiating. Interment will be in the Wann Cemetery, under the direction of Arnold Moore & Neekamp Funeral Home. Come and go visitation will be at the funeral home, Wednesday from 9am-8pm.
