John Bergin

January 23, 1942 — January 23, 2022

In the early morning hours of January 23, 2022 John “David” Bergin peacefully entered into eternal life on his eightieth birthday in Porter, Texas.

He was born in Davenport, Oklahoma on January 23, 1942 but most of his youth and early adult life was spent in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. He graduated from Bartlesville College High School in 1960. He then went on to attend Oklahoma State University and was a proud member of the Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity. David graduated from OSU in 1965 with a degree in business. He obtained a Masters of Business Administration degree from Tulsa University in 1970.

In 1971 he married Deborah Yarberry. After her untimely death he married Jennifer Castin in 1974 and they were married until her death in 2016.

David began working for Phillips Petroleum Company and after several years he and Jenny moved to Kingwood, Texas where they both lived the remainder of their lives. David primarily worked in the oil and gas industry although for several years he owned and operated a video rental store.

David was preceded in death by his father and mother, John and Jewell Bergin and by his two wives, Deborah and Jenny. David was survived by his sister-in-law and brother-in-law Kay and Bruce Winston of Edmond, Oklahoma, his niece Kimberly Paylor and her family of Arlington, Texas and nephew Kyle Winston and his family of Edmond, Oklahoma as well as a host of wonderful neighbors who treated him like family. David and Jenny did not have any children but during the course of their lifetime, by conservative measure, they were the owners of three dogs and no less than thirty-seven cats, cumulatively.
