We are deeply sorry for your loss - the staff at Arnold Moore & Neekamp Funeral Home
Florence Elizabeth (Mies) Barlow of Bartlesville, OK passed away on June 14, 2022, at the age of 86. She was born on December 22, 1935, at home in St Marks, Kansas to Rose Helena Bergkamp and Mathias Mies.
Florence grew up on the family farm attending area schools. After graduating high school, she moved to Wichita where she was a nanny and attended secretarial college. She joined the Padilla Club, a Catholic social club, which she greatly enjoyed and met many great friends. It was there that she also caught the eye of Morgan J Barlow Jr, who would become her husband in 1963.
Florence and Morgan resided in Wichita and had three children. Florence was a stay-at-home mom who took care of the home and family, volunteered at school and Girl Scouts, and always was ready with a plate of amazing cookies or brownies. In 1979, the family moved to Bartlesville, OK where Flo continued her volunteering, worked briefly at the St Johns School Cafeteria and participated in the Leisure Club.
Flo and Morgan were married almost 59 years. Morgan preceded her in death by only a few months, passing on April 20, 2022. We all know during those two months, Morgan was in Heaven calling her home, telling her "don't worry about the children-they are fine", and to ‘just come on, the car is running’. So after ‘she put on her lipstick and grabbed her purse’, she decided to join him, and they are both together at peace.
She is survived by her three children: son David and wife Aniko of Yucaipa, CA; her daughter Cheryl and granddaughters Mia and Ani of Houston, TX and Oregon; her daughter Michelle of Okarche, OK. She is also survived by her sister Sr Mary Rosina Mies and brother Raymond Mies.
Flo is preceded in death by her brothers James, Alphonse, Alfred, Ralph and sisters Lorraine, Louise, Mary Ann, Sr Mary Joseph, Theresa, Bernetta.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Center of Family Love in Okarche, OK, (www.centeroffamilylove.org).
A Rosary and Memorial Service will be held on Saturday July 16 beginning at 10:30 am at St Johns Before the Latin Gate Catholic Church. A graveside burial for both Morgan and Florence will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Bartlesville on Nowata Rd.
