Anita Reed

July 28, 1955 — November 16, 2022

Bartlesville

Anita Faye (Guess) Reed departed this life around 7:10 p.m. on November 16 after a short illness.

Anita was born on July 28, 1955, to Mary Jane Guess while passing through Wichita, Kansas, as the family’s home was in Fayetteville, Arkansas.

Anita’s early years were deeply influenced by her grandmother Gertie Belle Guess, while living in the old rock house. Some of her early memories included going to Sunday School, riding around town with the family pet goat, getting into trouble with her brothers, and faking a stomachache to get out of math class.

The missed math class apparently did not hinder her academic career as she attended Fayetteville High School and earned an Associate's Degree in Paralegal Studies.

Throughout her life, she held several titles including secretary, paralegal, and insurance claim adjustor, but the titles she was most proud of were that of mother and grandmother, referring to all her grandchildren as her “grand angels.”

Anita eventually relocated to Bartlesville, Oklahoma where she was known throughout the community for her generous nature, routinely supporting missionaries the world over. She also had a heart for assisting anyone she knew to be struggling or hurting, being known around town as a comfort to those who knew her and whom she prayed for.

Her fighting spirit was probably most evident during her two victorious battles with breast cancer. She was known by family and friends as the “bravest warrior” and she became a beacon of hope to those still struggling with the disease, that victory was within their grasp.

She was always known for having a thankful heart even for things as seemingly minor as a good parking spot. She never failed to thank God for her life and the people she went through it with.

Anita was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Jane Guess, her brother Charles Guess, and her niece Amanda Guess.

She is survived by her children, Rhonda and husband Tim Hudson, Jennifer and husband Sean Eisensmith, Nathaniel and wife Lacy Reed, and grandchildren Madeline and Emma Hudson, Jaxton and Jordy Secrest, Gracie and Jacob Reed, and Tyler Eisensmith. She is also survived by her brother James Guess and his wife Nina, as well as a sister-in-law Lynn Guess. She also leaves behind many beloved nieces and nephews as well as her chosen sister, Nancy.
