Oneil Owen, 92, a longtime resident of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, passed away Thursday afternoon, August 6, 2026, at Ascension St. John – Jane Phillips Medical Center.

He was born Troy Oneil Owen on April 7, 1934, to John F. Owen and Audie (Sisney) Owen in Oakland, Arkansas. Oneil’s family moved to Nuyaka, Oklahoma when he was very young. He received his education in the Nuyaka schools. He began working in the cotton fields as a teenager. When he secured a job with National Zinc, he moved to Bartlesville.

Oneil married the love of his life, Shirley Joanne Chastain on August 10, 1955 in Caney, Kansas. The couple continued their home in Bartlesville and Oneil worked as storeroom manager for National Zinc, until his retirement. After retirement, he went back to work for Pioneer Industries.

Oneil was a member of the First Assembly of God in Bartlesville, where he was a trustee and attended Hope Assembly of God in Caney the past few years, where he was very active, playing his guitar and singing solos on a regular basis. He could bake a pie and truly enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Gilreath, both of Bartlesville; one brother, Gary Owen and wife, Barbara of Dewey, Oklahoma; a sister, Fern Soles and husband, Larry of Tyro, Kansas; four grandchildren, Nicole Jorgensen of Bartlesville, Amanda Lee and husband, Mark of West Point, New York, Aubrey Ballard of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma and Jared Gilreath and wife, Bethany of Yukon, Oklahoma; and eight great-grandchildren, Dominic, Carson, Elijah, Jules, Owen, Isaiah, Samuel and Nolan. He was preceded in death by his parents; by his wife, Shirley on June 23, 2018; by two brothers, Quency and Martin Owen; by three sisters, Bernease Bolden, Rachel Hawthorne and Hazel Bowden.

Funeral service will be held 10am, Thursday, August 13, 2026, at Hope Assembly of God, Caney, Kansas with Pastor Doyle Brummett, officiating.
