Spavinaw, OK - Samuel Paul Vanover, 77, died Saturday, July 15, 2006 at his home near Spavinaw, Oklahoma. Sam was born August 2, 1928 at Eucha, Oklahoma to Floyd Riley Vanover and Cordi Gertrude (Phillips) Vanover. He married Amogene Roberts, who preceded him in death August 20, 1987. Sam later married Hjordis H. Wirebjer on July 27, 1990 in Missouri. He had worked for Armco Steel in Kansas City, Missouri for 38 years, retiring in 1990. The Vanovers came to the Grand Lake area in 1993. Sam was a beekeeper, farmer and rancher, who spent many hours attending his 70 hives. He also loved gardening and taking care of his cattle. Survivors are his wife, Hjordis of the home; three sons, Paul G. Vanover & his wife, Linda of Charleston, West Virginia, Claude R. Vanover & his wife, Cindy of Richmond, Missouri and Charles D. Vanover & his wife, Barbara of Sanford, North Carolina; one daughter, Sharon K. Miller of Broadway, North Carolina; two brothers, Russell Vanover of Spavinaw and Eugene Vanover of Eucha, Oklahoma; 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers. Graveside memorial services will be held 10 a.m., Wednesday, July 19, 2006 at Eucha Cemetery under the direction of Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home, Grove, Oklahoma.
