Sallie Ruth Powell

Sallie Ruth Powell lived a life full of warmth, laughter, and stories – many of which she told best herself. Born and raised in the Copan and Bartlesville communities, Sallie carried with her a deep love for the people and places that shaped her.

She was the heart of her family – devoted to her husband, Bob, her daughter, Sharon, and her son, Jeremy. Nothing brought her more joy than times spent with them. Whether they were gathered around the table sharing stories, reminiscing about old times or simply enjoying the quiet comfort of being together.

Sallie’s home was never without the gentle presence of her beloved basset hounds. Their soulful eyes, lazy charm, and endless devotion filld her days with joy and laughter. They were her companions, her comfort, and a reflection of the loving spirit she shared with everyone in her life.

Sallie spent 18 years of her life working at the Bartlesville Public Library. However, during her time at the library, she never considered work, but a way to connect with the community. Her patrons became friends, and friends that would become like family.

A gifted writer with a sharp wit and a tender heart, Sallie had a special way of seeing beauty every day. Her words painted pictures that made others smile, laugh, and sometimes pause to appreciate the small things that make life meaningful. Her love of storytelling was more than a hobby – it was how she connected with the world and people she cared for most.

Those who knew Sallie will remember her kindness, her way of making everyone feel welcomed and her unwavering devotion to her faith in Jesus Christ. She filled her days with love, creativity, and compassion, leaving behind countless memories and stories that her family and friends will cherish forever.

A visitation and viewing for Sallie will be held on Monday, December 1, 2025, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. A Celebration of Sallie’s life will be held at the Frist Baptist Church of Bartlesville on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, at 10:30 AM, where loved ones will gather to share memories, laughter, and love in her honor – just the way she would have wanted. A small graveside gathering of family only will be held.

She is survived by her husband, Bob, who she shared 55 years of marriage, her daughter, Sharon Powell of Dewey, OK, her son, Jeremy Powell of Rehoboth Beach, DE, her brother, Jim Reynolds and his wife, Sue of Bartlesville, OK, and several nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to Elder Care of Bartlesville, Shanandoa Home Health, Compassus Hospice, and The Journey Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Sallie’s name to a local animal shelter, library, or the Baptist Children’s Home.
