Peggy Thompson

Margaret “Peggy” Thompson, age 88, Grove, OK passed away Sunday March 1, 2020.

She was born September 23, 1931 in Hiwasse, AR to the late Virgil Banks and Mary Emma Woods Banks.  She graduated from Gravette, AR High School in 1949 as Class Valdictorian

Peggy married Clifford “Pepper” Thompson, her high school sweetheart on August 10, 1952 in Hiwasse, AR. He preceded her in death May 17,1989.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her siblings, infant twin brother and sister, Rex and Ruth Banks; Nell Phillips; Twins Lorene Nichols and Jean Cawood; and Dorothy Anderson.

She worked as a secretary for Northeast Area Vo-Tech School in Afton, OK .  After retiring she joined the Volunteer Auxiliary at Integris Grove Hospital and worked at the gift shop, flowers and information desk.  When she had to give up her regular shift due health issues, she continued to work from home for a couple of years making the cards for patient flowers.  Peggy had more than 9,200 hours of volunteer service to Integris Grove Hospital.   She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and a member of First Christian Church, Grove.  She loved spending time with friends and family.

Survivors include one daughter, Nancy Edwards and husband, John, Grove; grandchildren, Zach Edwards and wife, Sarah of Ft Smith, AR;  Mallory Dean and husband, Andrew of Fayetteville, AR; six great-grandchildren, Ava Edwards, Reed Edwards, Grant Edwards, Anabelle Edwards, Avery Dean and Madelyn Dean.

Funeral services are planned for 2:30 p.m., Thursday, March 5, 2020 at the First Christian Church, Grove. Pastor Ron Riley will officiate. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. n the Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Olympus Cemetery, Grove.
