Pearl Elizabeth (Parrish) Bien, 82-year-old Talala resident, passed away at her residence June 9, 2020, with family at her side.  She was born February 24, 1938, in Chelsea, Oklahoma to William Thomas Parrish Jr. and Cora Irene (Smith) Parrish. Pearl attended Bartlesville Public School where she received her education.  She married the love of her life Vernon “Gene” Eugene Bien on April 28, 1955, the night before he had to leave to serve his country in the U.S. Army. Pearl later joined him for a two-year tour in Germany and then they were stationed at Ft. Sill, OK. When Gene received his honorable discharge, they moved back to the state and made their home in Bartlesville, Ok. She was a salesclerk for Lander’s Grocery Store, in Nowata, Ok. for many of years before retiring.  Pearl and her husband enjoyed building birdhouses together and attending every craft show around the area. They were well known for building replica bird houses around the world and many customers would send them a picture of their mansion and they would build them a birdhouse identical to it. She was very talented woman and was not afraid of getting dirt on her hands. Her hobbies included fishing, quilting, crocheting, sewing, traveling, gardening, canning pickles, and making her own sauces such as ketchup and BBQ sauce. Pearl’s greatest accomplishment was her family, whom she loved unconditionally and always made sure their needs were met. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She will be missed by all who knew her.

Survivors include her daughter Janet Lightfoot of the home, three grandchildren; Jeremy Smith of Tulsa, OK, Aaron Lightfoot of Bartlesville, OK, Chelsea (Lightfoot) Chaney of Kansas, six great grandchildren; Evan Chaney, Espyn Chaney, Sawyor Lightfoot, Benton Lightfoot, Jenson Lightfoot, Zayden Smith, other relatives and a host of friends.

Pearl is preceded in death by her parents, along with her husband Gene; one daughter Jeri Smith and four siblings; Billy Ray Parrish, Betty Tabor, Neva Robinson, Tommy Parrish.

Graveside services for Pearl Bien will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 15, 2020, at Memorial Park Cemetery in Nowata, Oklahoma.
