Martha Jane Griggs Waldrop was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She left this world on June 29, 2023, at age 79. Martha was born on June 24, 1944, in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. She was the second daughter born to Gaither Austin Griggs and Ruby Dell (Franklin) Griggs. Martha was a graduate of College High School in 1962 and a graduate of Bartlesville Business College in 1963. She was employed at Phillips Petroleum as a secretary to the technical information branch from 1964 to 1967. A blind date with a fellow Phillips employee led to a 46-year marriage. On September 30, 1967, Martha and Morgan Albert Waldrop were married at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Bartlesville.
Martha and Morgan had four children: Traci, Jeffery, Susan, and Deborah. She was a grandmother to six grandchildren: Tyler, Kira, and Jenna Webster of Provo, Utah, and Morgan, Makenna, and Campbell Waldrop of Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Martha was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, where she served in various organizations. Martha loved learning more about her Native American Heritage and was a member of the Washington County Cherokee Organization as well as the Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma. Martha had a curious mind and loved to read. She enjoyed family history work and loved to visit with people. She had a beautiful smile and loved to laugh.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Ginger Ann Griggs; parents, Gaither and Ruby; husband Morgan and son, Jeffrey. Martha will be greatly missed, but we know that one day our family will be together again.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 5th, 9am-8pm at Arnold Moore & Neekamp Funeral Home, 710 S. Dewey Ave., Bartlesville.
