Lloyd Jordan

September 16, 1933 — December 6, 2016

Benjamin Funeral Service - Nowata, Oklahoma -918-273-2700 Lloyd Wayne Jordan, 83, of Nowata, passed away Tuesday, December 6, 2016. He was born September 16, 1933 in Alluwe, Oklahoma to Glenn Eldon and Edith Vivian (Bond) Jordan. Lloyd graduated from Lenapah in 1952 where he was a star basketball player. A treasured memory was riding the Interurban streetcar to the Coffeyville movie theatre. On June 4, 1955 Lloyd married the love of his life Mary Evelyn Inman in Nowata, Oklahoma. They are life-long residents of Nowata County where they raised three children. Lloyd worked hard all his life. At the age of 13 he left home and worked odd jobs for room and board. He operated farm and heavy equipment, moved a house, created a small cattle ranch and oil production. Lloyd, also known as "Biggun", retired from Phillips Petroleum Company, with 35 years of service in the Print Shop and then enjoyed 15 years delivering propane for Richardson/Burns Propane Company. He made time to take care of his family. He took them to church and was always there to solve problems they had. He relished family activities and community events that kept him in touch with local folks. His kind and pleasant manner brought peace to all. Lloyd was a devoted husband, dedicated father, proud grandfather, dear brother, special in-law and uncle, as well as a good friend. He will be missed by all who crossed his path. Lloyd was a true Nowata County history buff. He knew many people and had a lot of friends. He liked steam engines, classic cars and enjoyed an annual pheasant hunting trip to Nebraska. He served Nowata as Mayor, City Councilman, Nowata Historical Society Museum volunteer, and was "Turkey of the Year" for Nowata Pioneer Days. Lloyd was a contributing member and Elder of Cornerstone Community Church in Nowata and longtime member and Elder of Hillside Christian Church. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Nowata 10-33 Team or The Journey Home in Bartlesville (Phillips matches any donations.) Lloyd is survived by his loving wife Evelyn of the home; father of three children Terry Wayne Jordan of Grove, OK, Mary Diane Albert and Doug of Nowata, OK, Donna Grace Aultz and Byron of Nowata, OK; grandson Tyler Hicks and Tiffany of Dallas, TX; siblings Glenna Hitchcock of Copan, OK, John Jordan of Nowata, OK, Jo Ann Rein of Santa Anna, CA, Sharon Flewellen of Catoosa, OK; great-aunt Barbara McClintock of Tulsa, OK; and Inman in-laws Goldie Blanke, Kay Thorpe, June Vinita, Don Inman, and Ron Inman.
