Kevin Dwayne Johnston, 64, left this life early Saturday morning, October 18, 2025, at Ascension St. John – Jane Phillips Medical Center in Bartlesville.
Kevin was born July 19, 1961, to William Douglas Johnston, Sr. and Doris Clarice (Carter) Johnston in Wichita, Kansas. He grew in Wichita and later, the family moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma when Kevin was a teenager and he attended Tulsa Public Schools, graduating from McClain High School of Science & Technology. Kevin joined the U.S. Army and upon his honorable discharge, returned to Oklahoma and moved to Bartlesville eight years ago. He was a DJ and enjoyed entertaining at parties, weddings and the like.
Kevin joined the Tabernacle Bible Church and accepted the Lord Jesus at an early age. Kevin loved his music and played the clarinet. When The Carpenters were in Kansas, Kevin had the honor of singing with them. In his free time, he coached biddy basketball and enjoyed being around people and helping them, especially children. Kevin had a kind heart and never met a person that he would not help.
On August 5, 2021, Kevin married Joy L. Triplett in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. Joy was the love of Kevin’s life, and he enjoyed spending time with her and his family, including his grandchildren and his nieces and nephews.
Survivors include his wife, Joy of the home; five children, Fantasia Jones of Tulsa, Carlos Johnston and his wife, Natalia of San Antonio, Texas, Calvin Johnston of Houston, Texas, Timothy James Henry and wife, Casey of McAlester, Oklahoma and Rikki Bruening and husband, Jeff of Norman, Oklahoma; two sisters, Deborah Lynn Johnston and Doris Bell, both of Wichita; 17 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by both of his parents and by a brother, William Douglas Johnston, Jr. and by three sisters, Evelyn K. Zachry, Maxine Walker and Kim L. Haamid.
A memorial service will be held 2pm, Monday, October 27, 2025, in the chapel of Arnold Moore & Neekamp Funeral Home with Pastor Steve Griffith officiating.
