Kenneth (K.M.) (KEN) Roberts, age 85, a resident of Bartlesville died Sunday September 17, 2006 at Jane Phillips Hospital. He was born October 16, 1920 in Swink, Oklahoma the son of John G. Roberts and Neta Cockrell Roberts. He was reared and received his formal education in Sapulpa, OK graduating with honors in 1937. He attended the University of Oklahoma on a Naval R.O.T.C. scholarship, graduating with honors in 1941 with a degree in mechanical engineering. He served in the U.S. Navy during WW11 in the South Pacific aboard the Destroyer USS Lowry as Lt. Commander and received a presidential Citation, Bronze Star with 3 oak leaf cluster, the Good Conduct Metal, American Defense Metal, the America area Medal, Asiatic Pacific Area Metal with 4 stars, the Philippine liberation service metal with 2 stars and the WW11 Victory Metal. After his discharge from the Navy he returned to Oklahoma and settled in Dewey where he and Ruth Kent were united in marriage on November 4, 1945. He owned a and operated Dadco Feeds for 33 years and was a volunteer fireman for twenty years. He was longtime member of the Dewey Lions Club where he served as past president. and a past Vice President of the OU Alumni Association, a member of the Board of directors of the First National Bank of Dewey and a member of the Bartlesville Chamber of Commerce and the First Baptist Church. Mr. Roberts is survived by a son, David Roberts of Oklahoma City, OK, two daughters, Marilynn Harwell of Plano, Texas, Jean Ann McClure of Tulsa, OK, four grand children, Jeffrey David Roberts of Oklahoma City, OK, Kendall Susan Roberts of Denver, CO, Lindsay Jean McClure, of Plano, TX, Kenneth Royce Harwell of Plano, TX, two great grand children, Conner Scot McClure and Trystan Renae Black. He was preceded in death by his wife Ruth in 1996, three brothers and three sisters. Memorial services will be Wednesday September 20, 2006 at the First Baptist Church at 1:00 p.m. with The Rev. Dr. Joe Dan Fowler officiating under the direction of the Neekamp - Luginbuel Funeral Home. Memorials may be made the American Heart Association 2227 Skelly Dr. Tulsa, OK 74105.
