Imogene Detter Peaster was born at home in Mintaka Switch, Ochelata, OK, on July 9, 1934, to Clyde and Opal (Pearson) Detter.
Imogene attended schools in Ochelata, Sulfur Springs, LA, Sioux City, Iowa, Fargo, ND, and Bartlesville, OK, as her dad was a brick layer. She graduated from College High school in 1952.
Imogene Married the love of her life, Robert Leon "Bob" Peaster on January 19,1952 in Bentonville, Arkansas. January 19, 2026, would have been their 74th anniversary. Imogene and Bob moved to Dewey, OK, living there 73 years until her death.
Imogene was the mother to 4 boys, Robert Leon "Bob" Peaster Jr, Larry Gene Peaster, Donald Ray Peaster and Gary Lynn Peaster.
Imogene is survived by her husband: Bob Peaster, her sons: Larry Gene and wife, Melba Peaster and Gary Lynn Peaster; her 11 grandchildren and her numerous great-grandchildren.
Imogene was preceded in death by her parents: Clyde and Opal Detter; her baby brother, Carl Gene Detter, her brother: Clyde V Detter; her sons: Robert Leon Peaster Jr and Donald Ray Peaster, several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Imogene was active in her children’s and grandchildren’s school activities. She was an avid volunteer in her community, raising funds for Bluestem Elementary School, helping raise funds for Dewey Public School Band uniforms. Throughout the years, Imogene also served as a Cub Scout Leader and a Browine leader. She served as a chairwoman for Cancer Society for the Spring Fundraiser Event. She loved sports, attending all of her granddaughters’ ball games while in high school.
Imogene and Bob were avid square dancers and belonged to the Bartlesville Square Dance Club, the Swinging Squares, and the Drifters.
Imogene was employed by Philips Petroleum and worked as key punch operator and medical clerk. Retiring in 1986 to take care of grandchildren. She served many years as a substitute teacher. In 2001, she opened up the T-Total Tanning salon; operating it for15 years, closing it in 2016.
Imogene loved people, especially children and will be missed by all that knew her.
The memorial service for Imogene will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2026, at 2:00 PM with Pastor Lannie Smith officiating in the chapel at Arnold Moore & Neekamp Funeral Home in downtown Bartlesville. Online condolences may be left at www.honoringmemoriesbartlesville.com.
