Howard Emerson Sagel, 78, passed away peacefully on October 27, 2025, at his residence in Tahlequah, Oklahoma.
Howard was born on April 2, 1947, in Walnut Grove, Missouri, to Howard Sagel and Alice (Luster) Sagel. He grew up in the Ramona, Oklahoma, area graduating with the Ramona High School class of 1966. On July 25, 1966, shortly after graduating high school, Howard enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and served in the Vietnam War.
Howard had a very kind and giving heart and a great sense of humor. He was always willing to help when there was a need. He especially loved animals and enjoyed volunteering his time at the SPCA and working on his small hobby farm, in which he had many animals that he loved and cared for including dogs, cats, donkeys, sheep, pigs, goats, and chickens.
In his free time, Howard loved watching his shows on tv with his favorites being Gunsmoke, The Rifleman, Death Valley, Hopalong Cassidy, and The Roy Rogers Show, making his once a month calls to his family, listening to 50s rock and roll, drinking coffee and soaking in the peace of his hobby farm. Howard knew the Lord and attended the Church of Christ in Tahlequah. Throughout the years, Howard always enjoyed attending his Ramona High School class reunions and keeping in touch with his classmates.
Howard is survived by all who loved him and who find comfort knowing he is now at peace in God’s care.
