Henry Mattix

October 28, 1916 — April 18, 2006

Henry F. (Hank) Mattix, age 89, a resident of Dewey, died Tuesday April 18, 2006 at a nursing center in Dewey. He was born October 28, 1916 in Bartlesville, OK the son of Harry E. Mattix and Ida Daisy Allen Mattix. He attended his first years of elementary school in Jenks, OK when the family moved back to Bartlesville where he completed his formal education graduating in 1934 and attended Bartlesville Business College. He served in the U. S. Army during WWW11 serving in the 240th. F.A.B. and attended annual reunions He and Marian Bradford were united in marriage on November 29, 1946 in Independence, Kansas and made their home in Bartlesville. He was a retired foreman in the research department of Phillips Petroleum Co. and a member of the Dewey United Methodist Church. He was a charter member of the Sunset Country Club and avid golfer. He won Bartlesville City Champion in 1950 and 1951. In 1957 he was a state amateur golf medalist. Mr. Mattix is survived by his wife, Marian of the home, a son Mike and his wife Cathy of Jenks, OK, one daughter, Judy Mattix of Bartlesville, one brother, Jack Mattix of Tulsa, two sisters, Margaret Stanberry of Bartlesville and Orpha Jean Bowen of Colorado Springs, three grandchildren, Brian Mattix of Omaha, NE, Christina and Jessica Mattix both of Bartlesville and two great grand children, William Mattix and Kaylah Peoples of Bartlesville. He was preceded in death by one grandson, three brothers and one sister. Graveside Funeral services for Mr. Mattix were held Friday April 21, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. on the family plot at Memorial Park Cemetery. Reverend Paul Overholt officiated under the direction of the Neekamp -Luginbuel Funeral Home. Memorials have been established in Mr. Mattix name with the Dewey United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 610 Dewey, OK 74029 or the Arthritis Foundation, 4520 S. Harvard Suite 100, Tulsa, OK 74135-2932, for those who wish to make a donation.
