Gladys Stand-Heath-Harrison, 88-year-old Nowata resident, passed away at 10:15p.m., Sunday, May 21, 2006 at the Jane Phillips Nowata Health Center. Funeral services for Mrs. Harrison will be held at 11:00a.m., Friday, May 26, 2006 at the Hillside Christian Church with Pastor John Presko officiating. Interment will follow in the Nowata Re-Located Cemetery under the direction of the Benjamin Funeral Home of Nowata. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-7p.m. Thursday evening. They have also asked that memorial contributions be made in lieu of flowers to the 10-33 Emergency Team, 321 E. Cherokee, Nowata, OK 74048. Gladys Stand-Heath-Harrison was born April 21, 1918 in Stilwell, Oklahoma to Richard C. Stand and Katie L. Chair-Stand. After graduating high school, Gladys attended Nursing School and received her Nurse's Training at the Corescana Texas Hospital. She later worked for the Alexander Hospital in Terrell, Texas and then went to work at Wagoner General in Palacios, Texas. Gladys was also a nurse on the OB ward at Castle Air Force Base in Atwater, California. Gladys later moved back to this area where she worked for Claremore Regional Hospital for 16 years until her retirement on November 27, 2000. Gladys is survived by two sons, Jim Heath and his wife, Lana of Dewey, Oklahoma and Billy Heath and his wife, Debbie of Tahlequah, Oklahoma; by three daughters, Martha Mick and her husband, Ron of Houston, Texas; Freda Rasmussen and her husband, Eric of Atwater, California and Peggy Garland of Mounds, Oklahoma; by son-in-law, Bud Maynard of Palacios, Texas; by daughter-in-law, Sara Gering of Nowata, Oklahoma; by two brothers, Richard Stand, Jr. and wife, Peggy of Jackson, Mississippi and Billy Stand and his wife, Trojia of Delaware, Oklahoma; by 27 grandchildren; by 22 great-grandchildren; by three great-grandchildren "on the way"; and by one great-great grandchild "on the way". Gladys was preceded in death by her first husband, Clarence Gering; by her second husband, Louis Heath; by one son, Jerry Gering; by one daughter, Hilda Maynard; by one sister, Mary Moore; and by one grandson, Michael Maynard.
