Obituary

Frederick John Mostrom, 84, of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, passed away Wednesday, July 8, 2026.

Fred was born in Bartlesville on November 7, 1941, to John Oliver Mostrom and Bernice Agatha (Erikson) Mostrom. He grew up in Bartlesville and received his education there, graduating from College High School in 1961. Fred attended Oklahoma State University and graduated in 1965 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. He had also been a member of the Oklahoma National Guard and Phi Gamma Delta.

Fred was employed as an engineer with Williams Brothers Pipeline Company in Tulsa for four years. He later worked as a ski instructor for Aspen Ski Corporation for 25 years and was currently a volunteer assistant to the Oklahoma Wesleyan University women’s volleyball team. According to Bartlesville Radio, Fred was associated with OKWU volleyball for over 20 years, taking on a more established role since 2010 with the return of current women's volleyball coach Tracie Gillette. Mostrom was known to set up and tear down the volleyball nets, inspect and repair equipment, put tape on the floor and even clean the gym after games.

Fred is survived by a sister, Jo Nan Hester of Asheville, North Carolina and by a nephew, Trent Hester of Travelers Rest, South Carolina. He was preceded in death by his parents.
