Evangeline "Vangie" Jo
Baxter
Mar 29, 1951 — Jul 4, 2026
Bartlesville, Oklahoma
Evangeline “Vangie” Jo Baxter, 75, of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, went to be with her Lord and Savior on July 4, 2026, in Bartlesville, peacefully with her family by her side.
Vangie was born on March 29, 1951, to Chester Mueller and Charolotte (Coleman) Mueller, in Syracuse, Kansas. She grew up in Lakin, Kansas, and graduated from Lakin High School. She went on to attend college at Bartlesville Wesleyan College (now Oklahoma Wesleyan University), Bethany Nazarene College (now Southern Nazarene University) to obtain her degree in Music Education, and Kansas State University to obtain her Elementary Education degree.
On June 4, 1977, Vangie married Darrell Baxter. Vangie worked as a preschool teacher for most of her married life. Up until a few years before retirement, Vangie was the organist, pianist, or keyboard player in churches they attended throughout the years. Vangie enjoyed playing the piano, especially various Christian music arrangements and Classical compositions. In her free time, Vangie spent countless hours cross-stitching with completion of many beautiful patterns. She enjoyed reading about the history of the Civil War era. Her readings of the Civil War led Vangie to visit era homes and various battles sites in several states. Of course, Vangie enjoyed shopping, so her grandchildren’s birthdays and Christmas gave an excuse for hours of shopping.
Darrell and Vangie moved to Bartlesville, OK, after retirement and living in Iowa for 41 years. Vangie was a member of the First Wesleyan Church in Bartlesville.
Above all, Vangie cherished her faith and time with family and friends. She will be deeply missed by all that knew her.
Vangie is preceded in death by her parents: Chester and Charolotte Mueller and her brothers-in-law: Ken Rosentrator and Gerald Baxter.
Those left to cherish the memory of Vangie include her husband: Darrell Baxter of Bartlesville, OK; her children: Brandon Baxter of Des Moines, IA, Blake Baxter of Bartlesville, OK, Anna McKay (Tim) of Scapula, OK, and Brooke Baxter (Cody) of Clinton, KS; her grandchildren: Emily McKay, Preston McKay, Gideon McKay, Thomas McKay, Dakota Blankenship; her sisters: Gwynn Grinstaff of Bartlesville, OK, Kathy Cones (Dave) of Bartlesville, OK, and Annette Rosentrator of Anchorage, AK; and her sisters-in-law: Ruth Baxter of Overland Park, KS, and Myrna Baxter of Olathe, KS, and her nieces and nephews.
A funeral service for Vangie will be held on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at 10:00 AM, at the First Wesleyan Church with Pastor Mike Wilson, Dr. Jerry Pence, and Reverend Loren Rovenstine officiating. Interment will follow at the Memorial Park Cemetery in Bartlesville. Memorial in Vangie’s name can be made to The Gideons International at www.gideons.org. Arrangements are under the direction of Arnold Moore & Neekamp Funeral Service of downtown Bartlesville. Online condolences for Vangie may be left at www.honoringmemoriesbartlesville.
