Edward "Bubba" Eugene McCauley

December 6, 1942 — October 8, 2025

Barnsdall, Oklahoma

Edward Eugene McCauley, lovingly known to family and friends as “Bubba,” passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday afternoon, October 8, 2025, at the age of 82.

Born in Barnsdall, Oklahoma, to William Lee and Pauline Bernice (Sills) McCauley, Bubba was a proud lifelong resident of his hometown. He graduated from Barnsdall High School with the Class of 1961 and soon after answered the call to serve his country in the United States Army.

After his honorable discharge, Bubba returned home to Barnsdall, where he married his first wife, Margie. Throughout his life, he also shared meaningful chapters with Joane Wheeler and Janice Foreman, and later married the love of his life, Sue Patillo. Bubba and Sue made their home in Barnsdall, where they enjoyed many happy years together until her passing.

Bubba spent much of his career at Bareco Wax Company, later known as the Petrolite Wax Plant in Barnsdall, where he worked as a skilled plant mechanic. Known for his strong work ethic and dedication, he earned the respect and friendship of many throughout the years.

A longtime member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie 610, in Bartlesville, Bubba treasured the friendships he built there. He loved the outdoors — whether fishing, hunting, or simply enjoying nature — and especially valued time spent with his family. A passionate sports fan, Bubba rarely missed an opportunity to cheer on his beloved OU Sooners.

He is survived by his four children: Tracy Bruce and husband Michael of Nowata, Oklahoma; Mark McCauley and Chet McCauley, both of Barnsdall; and Richard McCauley and wife Kimberly of Hominy, Oklahoma. He is also survived by two sisters, Janice Gott of Barnsdall and Donna Perrier of Pawhuska, Oklahoma; five grandchildren — Austin Bruce, Dakoda McCauley, Kaylee McCauley, Claire McCauley, and Nolan McCauley — and five great-grandchildren: Annie, Millie, Karter, Aspen McCauley, and Liberty Laird.

Bubba was preceded in death by his wife, Sue; his parents; his son, Todd McCauley; four brothers — Darrell, Billy, Jerry, and John — and one grandchild, Lahrin McCauley.
