On March 14, 2020 in Grove, Oklahoma, Clara Belle Worthy went to be with our Heavenly Father. She was 93.
Clara was born on September 21, 1926 to Clay and Georgia Collins; she was the youngest of four children. She was raised in Oilton, Oklahoma and graduated from Oilton High School in 1944. After graduation Clara moved to Tulsa where she joined the United States Nurse Cadet Corps and attended nursing training. After nursing school Clara returned to her hometown, and on November 7, 1947, she married Gene Worthy, they were married 55 years. During that time, they remained in Oilton and had two daughters, Jana and Jeannie, and later gave home to several foster children. While raising her family, farm, and horses she continued her nursing career for many years with Dr. Reed in both his Oilton and Tulsa practices. After her nursing career she went to work at the Oilton Senior center where she ran their nutrition program. She later worked for and retired from Creek County as Senior Nutrition Program Coordinator.
Clara loved reading, gardening, baking and collecting antiques. She loved people and children, and in her younger years she always had a house full. She was a devoted member of the First Baptist Church in Oilton and later in Langley, Oklahoma.
Clara is preceded in death by both parents; siblings Orphia Collins, George Collins and Frances Collins; husband, Gene Worthy; grand daughter Jessica Nicole Doolin; son-in-law Steven Clinton and life long best friend Helen Bevel Stiles.
Clara is survived by her daughters, Jana Clinton, Jeannie Doolin and husband John; grandchildren, Christen Archer, Justin Doolin and wife Tracie, Stephanie Clinton; great-grandchildren, Clinton Archer, Ashton Archer, Bronco Doolin, Sailor Doolin; nieces, Georgia Lee Cole, Joyce McDaniel; nephew, James Clay Collins along with a number of other family members. Clara also leaves behind her beloved dog, Maggie.
Clara was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. She will be missed by all who knew her. Her warm smile and beautiful soul will forever remain alive in those that loved her and whose lives she blessed.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm Tuesday, March 17, 2020 in the Highland Cemetery in Oilton, Oklahoma. Services are under the direction of Luginbuel South Grand Lake Funeral Home, Langley, OK. Online condolences may be left at www.honoringmemories.com or on our Luginbuel Facebook page.
