Betty Marie Wigger Whistler, aged 78, passed away peacefully on March 28, 2022 in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. She was born on February 23, 1944 in West Palm Beach, Florida to A. G. “Fritz” Wigger and Mary Jeanette Crenshaw. She was a 1962 graduate of Nowata High School and married Doug Whistler in 1964. Beginning in the early 1970’s, Betty and Doug began teaching college and young marrieds Sunday School at First Baptist Church Bartlesville. She was passionate about teaching the personality temperaments. She contributed to the start of the Come Grow With Me Bible study that began in her home and continues to this day. Later in life, she and Doug taught multiple weekly home Bible studies. Betty was a Bible teacher who truly loved sharing the Word of God.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband and parents. She is survived by her daughter, Beth and husband Steve Beard, their children Kate Beard, Abby (Beard) Miles and Justin Miles, and Tom Beard; daughter, Becky and husband Steve Armstrong, their children Jack Armstrong, Ellen (Armstrong) Ford and Graham Ford; daughter, Barbara and husband John B. Kane, their children Jane (Dutcher) Bartley and Preston Bartley, Betsy Dutcher, John J. and Alicia Kane, Elizabeth (Kane) Wilson and Matt Wilson, and Caroline Kane; Great-grandchildren, Evie Jane Powell, Easton Bartley, Jack Bartley, Tripp Bartley, Natalie Kane, Johnny Kane and Charlie Kane.
Services will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, April 1st at First Baptist Church Bartlesville. If you wish to honor Betty, financial donations can be made to Cornerstone Hospice, 501 E. 5th Street, Bartlesville, OK 74003. Services under the direction of Arnold Moore & Neekamp Funeral Home.
