Graveside funeral services for Betty Irene Kelsey Miller, 95, are scheduled for 11 AM Wednesday November 18, 2020 at Olympus North Cemetery Grove, OK. Visitation for family and friends will be held Tuesday, November 17, 2020 at Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home in Grove, Oklahoma.
Betty was born December 3, 1924, in Jackson Twp. Columbia Co., PA to Irma (Keeler) and William O. Kelsey, she passed away at her home in Grandwood Assisted Living Center Grove, OK. Betty spent most of her childhood years living on the family dairy farm in Derrs, PA. She graduated from Benton High School in 1941 at the age of 16. She graduated from Goodwin Business School the following year after which she worked as a secretary. May 18, 1949, Betty married her sweetheart Don Miller in Derrs, PA. She loved being a wife to Don and mother to their three children. When the children got older, she resumed her career as a secretary at the United Methodist Church and Southern Elementary School in Bedford PA. In 1972 the Millers relocated to Chickasha OK where she worked again as a school secretary at both Chickasha High School and the area Vo-Tech school. She was active in church and community activities helping with Cub Scouts, teaching Sunday School, leading the church youth group, and serving in United Methodist Women groups. Betty was an avid reader loving well written romances and mysteries. She was also a gifted seamstress, needle worker, and a prize-winning quilter.
She loved traveling with her husband, her brother Kenneth and sister-in-law Ethel Kelsey in their RV’s visiting all the United States except North Dakota and Rhode Island. Betty was a loving wife, sister, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, and aunt to her family as well as a faithful friend to many who knew her.
She also loved the many caregivers at Grandwood Assisted Living Center and Compassus Hospice who became part or her family during the almost 9 years she was a resident there. She returned each smile and appreciated every kindness shown her.
She is preceded in death by her parents, brother, and husband. She is survived by sons- Ken Miller and wife Pat, Carlisle, PA, and Alan Miller and wife Rochelle, Broken Arrow; one daughter Judy and husband Ken, Grove; nine grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
Graveside service wii be Wednesday, 11:00 in the Olympus North Cemetery The family will receive friends from 5:00 p m - 7:00 p m at the Worley-Luginbuel funeral home , Grove
