Betty Mccoy

December 30, 1935 — April 12, 2023

Betty (Kanady) McCoy, 87, passed away from this life on April 12, 2023. She was born on December 30th, 1935, in Parkland, OK, to Guy and Jane (Davis) Kanady. She attended schools in Shamrock and Cushing, OK.

In 1951, she married her best friend and the love of her life, AL McCoy. They were together for 70 years until his passing in 2021. They lived in Cushing for the first few years of their marriage and added to their union one adored daughter, Kathy Jeanne, and then moved to Texas for several years where Betty was an office manager for an RV sales business and a mobile home park manager. They moved back to Oklahoma in 1972 for the health of their family and she worked alongside AL with their painting business for many years until they retired.

AL and Betty spent their retirement years making great friends at their retirement communities and campgrounds in Oklahoma, Texas, and Missouri. She was well known for her kindness, orneriness, bedazzled shirts, and laughter. They thoroughly enjoyed going to church, line dancing, traveling, and enjoying all their time with their precious friends and family.

Betty was a very devoted wife, mom, gram, great-gram, and “second” mom to her family. She was always very active in her daughter’s life, especially attending all her school events. She and AL were even chosen as the class parents. She adored her daughter and son-in-law, Rodney (who she called “son” because she loved him like a son and was so proud of him), and her sweet granddaughters and their families. Everyone who met Betty knew how proud she was of her little family and that she deeply loved her handsome groom and family.

Betty accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and was baptized when she was 15 years old. She loved everyone she was around dearly, and the feeling was mutual. She had a love for everything God made and appreciated the beauty in all, especially the family that God blessed her with. We truly believe she was the creator of the charcuterie board with her little parties she loved to have; especially with her granddaughters on their Friday night picnics on the living room floor.

Betty was greeted at Heaven’s gate on April 12, 2023, by her loving husband AL McCoy; both parents, in-laws, and maternal and paternal grandparents; brothers Nolan Frank, Dale Wilbur and wife Gracy Kanady, and Wince Earl Kanady; sister Norma Jane (Kanady-Goff) Sissom and husbands Glen Goff and Bruce Sissom.

She leaves behind her loving daughter Kathy Pippin and husband Rodney of Bartlesville; granddaughters Elizabeth Featherston and husband James of Bartlesville, Jenni Lynn Anderson and husband Abraham of Fletcher, NC; great-grandchildren Kelly Jo Featherston of Bartlesville, and London and Ash Anderson of Fletcher; bonus son Gary Goff of Cushing; bonus son and daughter, Gary and Nancy Roberts of Tryon; and a multitude of nieces, nephews, family, and friends. She will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her.
