Obituary

Barry Dale Hughes, Ne Kah Stah Skah, White Star, 68, of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, died Monday afternoon, July 20, 2026.

Barry was born February 23, 1958, in Hominy, Oklahoma to George Washington Hughes, Jr. and Ramona (Horseman) Hughes. He grew up in Ramona, Oklahoma and was a 1976 graduate of Caney Valley High School. After high school, Barry was employed as a welder and made it his life’s work. He was a lifelong resident of Washington County. Barry attended Humble Road Church in Bartlesville although he would always say “we are having church right here.” He enjoyed “taking it easy”, always having a good meal, and watching old western movies. Barry loved to spend time with his family, ride horses and motorcycles. He enjoyed researching his native American heritage and most importantly sharing the Word and Love of Jesus Christ. To know Barry, was to have a good friend, as he had many. Survivors include his wife, DeLaine Sue Hughes, his three daughters, Ashley Carissa Rendich of Bartlesville, MaLaina Suedale Hughes of Ramona, Oklahoma, and Courtney Renae Martin and her husband, Cole of Talala, Oklahoma; one sister, Susan Hughes-Martin of Bartlesville; 10 grandchildren and two nephews, Dustin Peck of Ramona and Christopher Peck of Bartlesville. He was preceded in death by his parents, biological mother; Carmen Delores Smith, biological father; “June Bug,” and 3 biological brothers and by a granddaughter, Leona Sue Tatum.

Funeral services will be held 2pm, Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at the Arnold Moore & Neekamp Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in the Oglesby Cemetery, under the direction of Arnold Moore & Neekamp Funeral Home and Cremation Service. Visitation will be from 9am-8pm, Tuesday with the family receiving friends at the funeral home from 6-8pm. To send an online condolence, visit www.honoringmemoriesbartelsville.com.
